NEWS RELEASE
Ferry company searches for cycling stars for new Rickshaw venture
With Mark Cavendish currently bidding to become Britain’s greatest Tour de France cyclist, a Cornish company is on the lookout for its very own cycling hero.
The St Mawes and King Harry Ferry Companies is searching for a Yellow Jersey star to operate its latest business venture – a Rickshaw service for Falmouth, Truro and St Mawes.
Tim Light, managing director of the Ferry Companies, decided to add the zero carbon peddle powered vehicle to the business’ fleet after spotting a couple on Ebay.
“As a company we’re constantly looking for ways that we can help improve public transport for both visitors and locals,” said Tim.
“We’ve always loved the idea of having a Rickshaw service in Falmouth, St Mawes and Truro that links with bus, train and ferry services and when I saw this one on Ebay I couldn’t resist.
“The Rickshaws are currently in Falmouth and we’re giving it a full overhaul before it hits the streets in a couple of weeks time.
“The plan is to run a trial service over the summer so we are looking for some fit folk who fancy some fun part time work.
Tim said that while keen cyclists would be ideal for the job the company has a full training programme to ensure that the Rickshaw provide a safe, enjoyable and reliable means of transport.
The service, which will launched in time for August on a hail or pre-booked basis, will be run under a ‘tip what you think it’s worth’ scheme.
Anyone keen on getting involved in this exciting, fun and quirky new business is asked to contact the operators through the website www.pedicabcornwall.co.uk or call 01872 861917.
